Today I'd like to share one of the great questions we received on our Contact Us form the other day.
Hi, I'm looking at getting a Wi-Fi clock, but I can't find a definitive answer to whether we need a time server here or not. Will this connect to a remote time server that you manage or do we need our own?
If an external time server is used, no time server is required internally but the clock will need access to the internet. American Time does not maintain a time server for this purpose but there are many accurate time servers available through the internet. We recommend using a time server pool such as pool.ntp.org, but primary and secondary static IP addresses can also be used.
If you are looking for a definitive answer from the Clock Experts, feel free to fill out the form on our website. You can also email me at randerson@atsclock.com with "Blog Question" as the subject line.
