What Type of File Works for Custom Logo Clocks? [VIDEO]

It’s important to know what type of file to send for preparation of custom logo printing to ensure that the final product looks it’s best. In this video, Aron Levandowski walks us through the types of files and the differences between them.

Vector Files

Vector is a mathematical calculation based on x and y coordinates. There are different points that are connected by straight lines and arcs. With vector formats, you are able to edit down to the line. It is infinitely scalable, so you can make it as large as you want without degrading the resolution.

Vector based formats we prefer for custom printing include .ai, .eps, .pdf, and .svg.

Raster Files

Raster files are pixel based, meaning each image is made up of tiny dots. Pictures taken with your mobile device or camera are raster images. If the image is taken at a small resolution and you scale it bigger, eventually the image is going to start falling apart depending on how big you make it. Raster images are also one solid piece, meaning you cannot edit components of it.

Raster file formats include .jpg, .tif, .png, and .gif.

If you don’t typically access or know  the location of these types of files, ask your administrative personnel or your print resource. Once you have the file(s), visit our logo customization page on our website and play around with placement and scaling of your logo yourself!
